This week and its another first for the website but a revisit for the MAMILS team to The Dukes Head at Somerleyton.
After forgetting this weeks ride was on a Wednesday and not a Thursday I rode to work without taking any lights with me and also rode a bike that I wouldn’t normally ride on a Thursday night distance. After managing to source lights and deal with the issue of just being on the ‘wrong bike’ I decided that all would be well and that The Dukes Head would be worth a visit as this venue has always served some very good food.
We made our way without any issues on a perfect summers evening south-east towards Somerleyton and somehow we managed to arrive a little bit early which gave us a chance to ride and take a quick visit to Somerleyton Marina as quoted by Ed “An unglamorous approach through a rabbit-infested boatyard, but there were some large boats moored up. Not quite St Tropez, but it’s another destination ticked off the bucket list!”
Tonight’s Orders
Ed & Nick – The Duke’s Burger; fully loaded, no changes (this was with salt beef, pickles, burger sauce, mustard and ‘slaw)
Howard – Spiced butterbean & spinach burger, pickles, ‘slaw, chips
The burger was one of the best burgers I’ve ever eaten, the salt beef is an amazing addition and was so tender it just melted in your mouth, the sauce, mustard, pickles and ‘slaw just added to the experience and made it all the more amazing.
Howard was equally impressed with his Butterbean burger, which was cooked like a fishcake and served the same way as our meat burgers.
The journey home was just as uneventful as the journey there and we made really good time back to the city, which was good as I needed to collect my bag from the office.
